I am Stella Ariza, General Director of the La Cuerda Cultural Foundation, music teacher, dreamer, and entrepreneur in the city of Bucaramanga.

WHO WE ARE

THE LA CUERDA CULTURAL FOUNDATION is an organization that carries out musical training programs for children and young people, seeking to promote the development of musical artistic skills in the Bumanguesa community. We also create spaces for the formation of children’s and youth choirs with local and national projection, participating in different festivals and cultural events such as:

– The Festival organized by the corporation Corpacoros in Buga Valle – years 2014 – 2018 – 2019, receiving the Carlos Armando Perez Olguín medal as recognition to the La Cuerda Foundation, for the trajectory of the choral festival in eastern Colombia.

– Participation in the «El Canto nos Une» Festival – by the Cajita de Música foundation, in the city of Medellín during the years 2016 and 2018.

LA FUNDACIÒN CULTURAL LA CUERDA es una organizaciòn,  que realiza programas de formaciòn musical para niños y jóvenes, buscando promover el desarrollo de habilidades artísticas musicales en la comunidad Bumanguesa, creando también, los espacios para la conformación de coros infantiles y juveniles con proyección a nivel local y nacional,  y participando, en diferentes festivales y eventos culturales como:

ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE FESTIVAL

Since the second edition of the festival, we have created a space called the «Academic Section», where we hold a seminar aimed at choral directors, musicians, and educators. On this occasion, we are honored to have the presence of Maestra Camila Zaldumbide Flores, a Music Graduate with a specialization in Composition and a Master’s degree in Musical Pedagogy with an emphasis on Choral Conducting from the Pontifical Pedagogical University of Ecuador. Maestra Zaldumbide, from Quito, Ecuador, will share her experiences in children’s choral conducting, present musical repertoires of her authorship and Ecuadorian culture, as well as strategies for teaching choral music.

A través de una convocatoria abierta a nivel nacional, cada agrupación se registra y participa en una audición en video para asegurar su participación. ACTIVIDADES DENTRO DEL FESTIVAL

Desde la segunda edición del festival, hemos creado un espacio que denominamos «Franja Académica», donde llevamos a cabo un seminario dirigido a directores corales, músicos y educadores. En esta ocasión, nos honra contar con la presencia de la Maestra Camila Zaldumbide Flores, Licenciada en Música con especialización en Composición y Maestría en Pedagogía Musical con énfasis en Dirección Coral de la Universidad Pedagógica Pontificia de Ecuador. La Maestra Zaldumbide, proveniente de la ciudad de Quito, Ecuador, compartirá sus experiencias en la dirección coral infantil, presentará repertorios musicales de su autoría y de la cultura ecuatoriana, así como estrategias para la enseñanza de la música coral.

SCHEDULE

The festival will take place from June 6th to 9th in Bucaramanga. Below, we detail the schedule:

Day 1: We will begin with an inaugural concert at 7:30 pm. Day 2: Didactic visits will be conducted at two educational institutions at 8:30 am and 10:30 am, followed by gala concerts at 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm. Day 3: There will be a pedagogical workshop for choral directors from 8:00 am to 10:00 am and from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The assembly of the choral mass will also take place with a general rehearsal from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. Day 4: The day will conclude with the final concert at 10:00 am, followed by the festival closure and the choral mass concert.

Dream keeps us alive in a city that grows by betting on culture, childhood, and adolescence, being the driving force that motivates us to maintain the magic of this event year after year.

INVESTMENT

The donations from this campaign aim to cover several necessary aspects for its realization:

Stages: We aim to have four stages where five groups will perform per concert. Sound and technicians for the events: A sound system that guarantees optimal quality in the musical projection of the groups will be required, as well as trained technicians for its handling. Copyrights: Part of the donations will be allocated to pay for the rights to use the musical works that will be performed in the concerts. Refreshments: We plan to provide 130 refreshments per concert, as well as special choral mass refreshments for the final concert, with a total of 700 refreshments overall. Audiovisual Production: Recording of each of the concerts will be carried out, both in audio and video, for subsequent dissemination and preservation. Seminar: A pedagogical seminar will be held, which will include the fees, transportation, accommodation, and meals of the international guest teacher.

PROGRAMACIÓN

El festival se llevará a cabo del 6 al 9 de junio en Bucaramanga. A continuación, detallamos la programación:

• Día 1: Comenzaremos con un concierto inaugural a las 7:30 pm.
• Día 2: Se realizarán visitas didácticas en dos instituciones educativas a las 8:30 am y 10:30 am, seguidas de conciertos de gala a las 4:00 pm y 5:30 pm.
• Día 3: Habrá un taller pedagógico para directores corales de 8:00 am a 10:00 am y de 2:30 pm a 5:30 pm. También se llevará a cabo el montaje de la masa coral con un ensayo general de 10:00 am a 12:30 pm.
• Día 4: El día culminará con el concierto final a las 10:00 am, seguido del cierre del festival y el concierto de la masa coral.

El sueño nos mantiene vivos en una ciudad que crece apostándole a la cultura, a la infancia y adolescencia, siendo el motor que nos impulsa a mantener la magia de este evento año tras año.

INVERSIÓN

Las donaciones de esta campaña tienen como objetivo cubrir varios aspectos necesarios para su realización:

1. Escenarios: Se busca contar con cuatro escenarios donde se presentarán cinco agrupaciones por concierto.
2. Sonido y técnicos para los eventos: Se necesitará un sistema de sonido que garantice una óptima calidad en la proyección musical de las agrupaciones, así como técnicos capacitados para su manejo.
3. Derechos de autor: Se destinará parte de las donaciones al pago de los derechos de uso de las obras musicales que se interpretarán en los conciertos.
4. Refrigerios: Se planea proporcionar 130 refrigerios por concierto, así como refrigerios especiales de masa coral para el concierto final, con un total de 700 refrigerios en total.
5. Producción Audiovisual: Se realizará la grabación de cada uno de los conciertos, tanto en audio como en video, para su posterior difusión y conservación.
6. Seminario: Se llevará a cabo un seminario pedagógico, que incluirá los honorarios, desplazamiento, hospedaje y alimentación de la maestra invitada internacional.

Every year, and even more so during and after the pandemic, obtaining the funds to sustain this commendable musical, artistic, and educational activity for the children and youth who are the future of our beloved Colombia, motivates us to reinvent ourselves and seek creative and honest ways to ensure the success of this annual event, of which we are very proud. The uncertainty of securing the budget needed to make each of the payments necessary to move this project forward sometimes overwhelms us, but those incredible voices are worth it.
